A Faithful Season Completed: An Update from HLI

Dear friends and fellow laborers in Christ,
Grace and peace to you.
For many years, the Hispanic Leadership Initiative has existed because the Lord stirred the hearts of His people. HLI was born from a simple conviction: that God was raising up faithful, theologically grounded Hispanic leaders to serve His Church in the United States and beyond. What began as a small, hopeful effort grew into a network of pastors, interns, missionaries, and church plants strengthened through prayer, encouragement, and shared labor.

Over the past fourteen years, by the grace of God, we have walked alongside leaders in moments of uncertainty and courage. We have supported church planters in hard soil. We have encouraged families serving in obscurity. We have helped build bridges between congregations and communities. Some of the fruit has been visible. Much of it has been quiet. All of it rests in the hands of the Lord who promises that our labor in Him is not in vain.

After much prayer and careful counsel, the board has discerned that this season of HLI’s formal ministry will come to a close on June 30, 2026. This decision has not been made lightly. Yet we trust that the same sovereign God who called HLI into existence now leads us to complete this chapter. This is not a story of collapse, but of transition. In the wisdom of God, endings often become seeds. As HLI concludes, the leaders, missionaries, and initiatives we have supported are stepping forward with renewed clarity and strengthening structures of their own. What was nurtured in one season is now taking root in many places.

If you have been giving directly for a particular person or ministry-such as Alberto Paredes, Daniel Pollorena, Jaime Jimenez, Vicky and Pancho, Capillas Reformadas, or Multiplicadores or to San Pablo Reformed Seminary in EL Paso- please know that I am actively working alongside each of them during this transition. Together we are establishing the pathways necessary for their continued support and long-term health. In the coming weeks, you will receive clear guidance on how you may continue partnering with them if you so desire.

To those who have supported the broader work of HLI, I offer my deep gratitude. Your generosity has strengthened leaders, sustained families, and encouraged gospel witness in places where perseverance was required. The Lord has used your faithfulness in ways we may only fully understand in eternity.
If you have questions, would like to process this news, pray together, or talk about what comes next for the mission and the workers we love, please do not hesitate to reach out. I welcome those conversations. These moments deserve care, clarity, and hope anchored in Christ.

Thank you for walking with us in this season. The Church belongs to Jesus. He builds it. He sustains it. And He is not finished.
With gratitude and many blessings,
José
